Artavita Contest Recognition
The "Lords of Bhutan", is an original oil painting on stretched canvas mounted on a wooden frame, features Asian themes and is specifically centered on the country of the Kingdom of Bhutan. It was a runner-up entry in the 20th Artavita art contest and was awarded a "Certificate of Excellence" by Despina Tunberg, Director of Artavita, Santa Barbara, CA.
The painting is a reinvention of Milo from one of the celebrated photographic lens collections of Manny Libres Librodo from the Philippines. The theme captures the picturesque and hidden roots of the kingdom of Bhutan, a country nestled within South Asia, in the Eastern Himalayas between China to the north and India to the south, with the Indian state of Sikkim separating it from neighboring Nepal. Milo's creative respect is shown by naming the old lady in the painting "Lord," acknowledging the generations her family has produced, which now govern their remarkable country in the East.
This recognition highlights the importance of public attention and awareness towards Bhutan’s rich history. The country’s roots merit worldwide recognition, and this painting stands as a testament to announce to the world that Bhutan is a remarkable destination to explore. The people of Bhutan embody an ancient civilization worthy of admiration and respect.
In essence, this award-winning painting not only showcases artistic excellence but also serves as a cultural ambassador, bringing the stories and heritage of the Kingdom of Bhutan to a global audience.
